Slindon Farmers Market

A farmers market, is held in the Coronation Hall on the fourth Thursday of each month from 08.45 am to 12.30 pm. The actual forthcoming dates appear in the Village Diary.

A range of local producers attend. You will find staples such as bread, meat and vegetables, together with specialities like chutneys, quiches etc. Treats such as cakes are available, as well as plants and flowers (weather and unforeseen calamities permitting!). There is a ‘Made in and around Slindon’ stall with cards, crafts and all sorts from our neighbouring villages. Teas and coffees are available.

Each month we aim to have a different seasonal speciality available - details of each month's special appears as a 'village news' item about a week before each market.

What you can find at Slindon Farmers Market

Organised by village volunteers, we concentrate on food (mostly) and most producers are quite local (some are very local indeed). There is a mix of produce and stalls are set up in front of the Hall and inside. The market is small and very friendly and there is coffee and cake in the Hall.

Below are details of the stallholders who usually attend, but if you want to visit a particular producer it might be best to check they are coming (call Mike on 814777), and note that we tend to have a 'floating group' of stall-holders who come (or don't) if their produce is in season - so it is probably best to regard the following as indicative of the kinds of stall which you will find, rather than a defiinitive list.

Outside (usually):-

Flint Acre Farm (Bury) Brian Cordrey. Free range pork (including bacon). Brian also sells a selection of vegetables (and cut flowers when in season) - all grown by Daylands Farm near Steyning.

Black Dog Nursery (North Mundham) Don Baldwin. A selection of home-grown vegetablesand salad crops, plus some shrubs, bedding plants and herbs.

M&M Fisheries (Shoreham) Mike Davies. Locally caught fish (very weather dependent).

We usually aim to have extra people with seasonal specials as appropriate (eg orchard fruits in the autumn, Christmas tres and logs etc). And if anyone knows any cheese makers tell them to get in touch.

Inside (usually):-

Slindon Bakery (Slindon) Andy Turner-Cross. A wide range of breads, morning goods and cakes.

Park Farm Lamb and eggs (Eartham) Lucie Payton South Downs lamb (including lamb box scheme) and free range eggs when the chickens co-operate! Homemade farmhouse cakes & flapjack etc; and quiches & savouries.

‘Made in (and around) Slindon’ A number of stalls feature a wide variety of items made by people in or very close to our parish - typically it includes things like honey and beeswax candles, chutneys and jams of all kinds, cards, furniture etc.
