Security Information
This also seems a timely occasion to remind you of our Neighbourhood Watch and crime reporting systems. Our own Neighbourhood Watch system is very simple - if you are concerned about anything crime-related call either Bonny Beere on 814446 or John Wymark on 814642 at any time. They will take the necessary steps from then on. If you want to contact the police direct because you see a theft taking place or someone acting suspiciously around a house or car or a disturbance taking place, you should call the 999 emergency number. If you are belatedly reporting a crime or a suspicious incident use the Sussex Police non emergency number 0845 60 70 999.If you want to report an incident anonymously then call Crimestoppers free on 0800 555 111. The majority of people carry a mobile phone with names and numbers stored in its memory but if we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, how would the people attending us know who to call ? The ”ICE” (In Case of Emergency) initiative, supported by the Sussex Ambulance Service, involves the creating of an entry in your mobile phone directory giving the number of a contact person or persons who should be notified In Case of Emergency. This is entered in the directory under the title ICE so that Emergency Service personnel and hospital staff would quickly be able to contact the right person just by calling that number. For more than one contact name simply enter “ICE1”, “ICE2” and “ICE3” etc.The concept of ICE is catching on quickly and was first thought up by a para medic who found that when he went to the scene of an accident there was generally a mobile phone with the patient but no indication of who to call to notify. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognised name for this purpose.
