Talk by Peter Lovesey – writer of locally-set detective novels – Friday 20 September, St Mary’s at 7.30
Peter Lovesey is a British writer of historical and contemporary detective novels and short stories. His best-known series character is Detective Superintendent Peter Diamond, a modern-day police detective based in Bath. Some of his Peter Diamond novels and all of his Inspector Henrietta Mallinn novels are set in West Sussex, based in Chichester. ‘Down Among the Dead Men’ takes place in Slindon, Boxgrove, Bosham and Littlehampton, and is a good read.
Peter Lovesey has won many awards for his work and, until recently, he lived for many years in Chichester – he knows Slindon and the Forge where he may well have derived inspiration for some of the characters in his books! In a recent message to the St Mary’s team, Peter said; “I do know Slindon from previous visits to the marvellous community shop and the pumpkin festival. It was fun to locate some of my fictional characters in your village. I hope I didn’t take too many liberties!”
Further details of the talk and where to buy tickets will be publicised later shortly. In the meantime, please save the date.
